Have you ever felt like you were in a food rut? You know the kind of rut that makes you feel like everything you cook is bland and boring.  Well in honor of St. Patrick’s Day, I will be posting a series of Irish dishes to cure your food boredem.

So what’s for dinner…Steak with mashed potatoes? Forgo the bland and spice up those potatoes by trying this traditional Irish side dish: Colcannon.  It is made traditionally on October 31 or on All Saints Day, the 1st of November. This dish is like meatloaf, in that the recipe slightly differs per family tastes. So, if you like scallions over leeks or kale over cabbage, don’t worry any combination will work. My family loves pairing cabbage with leeks and onions.  Also, try ham steaks instead of beef and you will love the parsley sauce that goes with it.  Traditionally the Irish don’t call it ham…
