Easy Rice Pulao Using a Rice Cooker

Pulao is a main rice dish similar to biryani. There are some differences, though. Biryani generally has more spices, so it is heavier on flavor. Biryani is also layered, with the ingredients cooked separately. Last but not least, pulao is much much easier to prepare, meaning you can cook it in a rice cooker. Here is a simple pulao recipe that we enjoyed the other night for dinner.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups rice, soaked for 30 minutes
  • kala jeera, 1/2 tsp
  • whole garam masala*
  • ginger garlic paste, 1 tsp
  • green chilis, 1 chopped
  • onion, 1 small chopped
  • vegetables, any choice, cut into pieces
  • yogurt, 1 cup
  • mint, 1 tbsp chopped roughly
  • coriander leaves, 2 tbsp chopped
  • oil, 2 tbsp
  • salt, to taste

To Make:

In the rice cooker pot, add the rice and the correct amount of water and soak for 30 minutes.
