Irish Brown Soda Bread

Brown soda bread is on every table in Ireland. It’s so easy and quick to make, and so delicious. This is a no yeast recipe, therefore, no hours of waiting for your bread to rise. I imagine a fresh loaf is made every day. I think I’m going to start making one everyday and forget store bought bread. This is very healthy bread, and we’ve put our Students Go Gourmet stamp on it by adding even more nutrition, ground flaxseed.

Flaxseed has been around for thousands of years, but only of recent has it hit the current scene of superfoods. It is high in fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, and antioxidants. Recent studies suggest that is has protective effect against some types of cancers. It’s a powerhouse superfood.
