“Happiness, health, love, cool,” were the words Alber Elbaz used to describe his Fall 2013 collection for Lanvin. I would add “remarkable, varied, carefully edited, genius.” Genius is a term that is overused in these hyper times, but it is correctly used in this instance.
Elbaz’ collection was beautifully sophisticated, and brought many conflicting ideas together–hard and soft, dark and bright, heavy and light. I thought his models looked supremely chic, confident, and comfortable, and isn’t that what we want to look and feel like, ladies and gents?
There was so much to exclaim over in this collection–the sheaths! The prints! That fluffy white top! That gorgeous silhouette on that black dress! The white embellishment on another black dress! The jewelry piled on, necklace over necklace over chain. The ruffles! The shoulders! So much to take in, to contemplate (why the “Help” necklaces and belts?)
