All cakes great and small

So it’s still freezing outside but don’t worry this doesn’t meant that everything has stopped growing- now is the time to try some delicious winter veg.

What’s in season?

Vegetables: artichokes (Jerusalem), Brussels sprouts, cabbages leeks, onions, potatoes, swede

Fruit: rhubarb (forced)

Fish and shellfish: cockles, cod, crab

Game: hare, venison

Who’s for a bit of rhubarb?

We were back in Shropshire this weekend and so i may these delicious rhubarb crumble muffins, a goey muffin topped with a crumble to give it a crunch. Forced rhubarb is being groon at the moment and i saw some in the green grocery shop so decided to buy some and make these muffins for family.


Rhubarb is one of those allotment mainstays which can be considered resolutely British. This recipe combines a muffin, rhubarb and crumble giving a moist cake with a crunchy topping.
