February is probably the hottest month of the year in the Joburg area. Daytime temperatures hover around or even above 35 degrees. In these kinds of temperatures it is incredibly important to stay hydrated, especially if you also plan to exercise. Water is obviously the best source; zero calories, sugar and additives, but I find that it can get pretty boring. One way of jazzing up your water is to add fruit and vegetables. Be creative, and thing beyond the usual lemon slices! Why not add cucumber or celery for a clean and fresh taste, or strawberries for a bit of natural sweetness? Another great way is to freeze these goodies into ice cubes, thereby killing two birds with one stone: ice cold water with a delicious taste!
